6 Tips for a ‘Cheers Worthy’ Toast! | Merrily Wed Wedding Design

Wedding Toasts are nerve racking and can give butterflies to even the most confident public speaker. If you are giving a toast at an upcoming wedding here are six rules to follow that will ensure that your toast is a success:

1.   Keep It Short. Especially if there are a few other toasts. If it is much longer you probably won’t lose the bride and groom’s attention but you might start losing some of the guest’s attention.

2.   Practice. Practice. Practice. Make sure you know what you are going to say before you stand up especially if not comfortable speaking in front of groups. You don’t want to wing it and then end up saying something you didn’t intend to say.

3.   Speak From the Heart. Enough said here.

4.   Be Tactful. Don’t embarrass the bride and groom on their special day; the point is to say something nice about them. You can be funny just don’t be inappropriate, there is going to be a mixed crowd so make sure to watch your language, keep it PG.

5.   Etiquette. Make sure that you are standing so everyone can see you while giving your toast. Look at the couple as you are speaking, you are speaking about them so keep eye contact. Raise your glass at the end so everyone knows to raise their glass as well.

6.   Don’t Get Toasted. It is common that people want to calm their nerves by drinking before but make sure to not get too carried away before the toast. You might only embarrass yourself or the bride and groom and that’s not what you want to do!

With the help of these six simple rules your toast should be a success. Remember to be yourself – the bride and groom chose you to speak because you are special to them and they believe in you, so just believe in yourself and your toast will turn out fantastic.

Sommer & Justin – Classic Beauty in B&W | Lake Tahoe Private Estate

Sommer and Justin had a beautiful Lake Tahoe wedding in mid June 2010. The classic beauty of their special day really shines in these black and white photos by Annie X.

We had such a fun time at this one starting with a pre-ceremony cocktail hour to kick off the festivities. The bridesmaids wore floor-length (or lawn-length in this case!) black silk dresses and not to be out-matched, the groomsmen looked quite daper in their black suits.

The champagne linen was the perfect backdrop for the centerpieces filled with quintessential white hydrangea and timeless white roses allowing the flowers to radiant whiter than ever. The Tahoe P.C. bubble departure showered our newlyweds as they stole away into the night in their private limo, black of course.

Style Watch – Peacock Feathers | Lake Tahoe Weddings

Feathers of ALL colors are one of the hottest wedding trends of 2010 and at Merrily Wed we are taking this trend and running with it. A common feather that is being used is the peacock feather; the bold vibrant colors of the peacock feather can be an inspiration for any wedding. The feathers can be used to add small wisps of color or they can be incorporated in every aspect of the wedding.

One of our favorite ways to incorporate the use of the peacock feather is to use it as a color inspiration. One way to incorporate the colors is in the linens, use a combination of light green and teal to give a dramatic feel. These colors will give off the essence of the theme and paired with the peacock feathers they look spectacular.

Another great way to incorporate the colors is in the bridesmaid’s dresses. Having your bridesmaids wear different shades of complimentary colors found in the peacock feather can integrate the theme into the wedding party. Not only will the bridesmaid’s dresses look amazing, but they will also incorporate the mixed-matched bridesmaids dresses that have become oh so popular.

By adding peacock feathers into the floral arrangements you can add a whimsical feeling to any arrangement. The feathers can look beautiful in any centerpiece, bouquet, boutonnière, or corsage. The contrast between stark white flowers and the bold colors in the peacock feathers can create a refreshing balance to any floral arrangement.

To ensure that your wedding is just as amazing as you imagine, pay attention to the details. The peacock feather theme is distinctive and glamorous, by incorporating this theme into even the smallest details it will help create a day that will be original and memorable for you as well as your guests.
